New Branch Chairman at Selsey RNLI Lifeboat Station

15th June 2022

Our two Lifeboats and their crews are very visible signs of Selsey Lifeboat Station - there are many other people involved in not so visible roles including the Visits team, the Shop team, Fundraisers, the Community Safety Officer and our Local Publicity Officer. All of these activities are represented on the Selsey RNLI Lifeboat Management Group (LMG) which includes representatives from the RNLI Regional Management team. We're delighted that Vaughan Turney was recently appointed Chair of the Selsey Lifeboat Management Group.

As a keen windsurfer and dinghy sailor, Vaughan has been a life long supporter of the RNLI. Initially volunteering as a member of the Visits Team at Selsey Lifeboat Station, Vaughan welcomed members of the public to the boathouse. Showing visitors the station's Shannon and D Class Lifeboats and recounting the history of the station and its brave crews was his main duty.

After two years in this role, Vaughan became a Community Presenter, preparing and giving talks on the wider work of the RNLI to various local organisations. These included local sailing clubs, the WI, u3a, Cub Scouts and church groups.

Vaughan is keen to foster new and re-build old relationships between Selsey Lifeboat Station and local organisations. If you would like to discuss any non-operational aspect of Selsey Lifeboat Station then he will be pleased to hear from you.

Vaughan can be contacted at turneyvaughan@gmail.com
